Our Services
XtraTec’s UKAS 4727 accredited laboratory is well-equipped to provide a range of geotechnical tests and rapid reporting for common construction materials, including soils, aggregates, and concrete. (Our accreditation is limited to those activities described on our UKAS 4727 schedule of accreditation).
Aggregate Testing
Xtratec laboratory technicians can perform physical and mechanical testing on a range of natural and recycled aggregates. Tests undertaken include particle size distribution, classification, resistance to fragmentation by the Los Angeles method, and testing for water content.
Soil Testing
Xtratec offer reliable soil testing that meets national standards. The tests assess the quality and suitability of the soil, measuring moisture content, liquid/plastic limit, Moisture Condition Value (MCV), particle density, and the Saturation Moisture Content of chalk (SMC).
Concrete Testing
Xtratec laboratory technicians can test fresh and hardened concrete to ensure it meets the necessary standards to stay complaint. This includes concrete cube and beam testing, which provides data on compressive and flexural strength and density.
Advantages of Materials Testing
Civil Engineering projects require that the site meets strict regulatory requirements. The Xtratec laboratory can test construction materials to:
- Understand how materials behave whilst in use
- Know the material’s failure point
- Inform your future decision-making
- Bring to light any problems with a sample or mix
- Save time and costs by getting it right first time
- Keep your projects within budget and on time
